At Sarthak Foundation, we have introduced Attribute Badges, a practice that extends across our Yellow Rooms and to our staff. Instead of using surnames, we encourage everyone to choose an attribute to represent themselves. The concept behind this is twofold:
First, it promotes self-reflection. By choosing an attribute, each individual engages in introspection, thinking about their important qualities, how the world perceives them, and how they see themselves. It becomes a valuable part of our SEL (Social Emotional Learning) activities, fostering personal growth and awareness.
Second, this practice helps challenge the concept of caste. We believe that surnames often put people into predefined categories based on their region, language, or community. By using attributes instead of surnames, we aim to break these barriers and promote a more inclusive environment where everyone is seen for their qualities, not their background.
This approach not only promotes reflection and inclusivity but also adds a fun element to how we identify ourselves, contributing to a stronger sense of unity and purpose.
